what is the difference between a keyboard accordion and a button accordion?

is there any inconsistency between the two? price? sound? which is better?

There are in the end two types of accordions - Chromatic accordions can have buttons or keys and Diatonic accordion always are button. Here's the differences -

CHROMATIC ACCORDIONS -
Can be keyboard or button
Can sport all notes
Play the same note whether pushing or pulling on the bellows
Can have a larger range of notes -
Chromatic button accordions can have the most wander of all
Can have a full range of notes in the left hand for accompaniment
Come in many sizes - described by the number of bass buttons
Are heavier than most Diatonics
Are more up-market than most Diatonics
Both due to number of reeds and complexity of parts
Can usually produce more variety of sound. (more reeds)
Can be employed to play most styles of music effectively

DIATONIC ACCORDIONS -
Are always button accordions
Play only the notes in the "key" of the device
Can have more than one row of buttons to cover different "keys"
Play different notes when you push and draw ahead of a withdraw the bellows
Have limited notes available in the left hand
Are usually lighter, smaller, and less expensive - less parts
Sometimes designed to be restricted characteristic of to a type of music (cajun, tex-mex, etc.)

Neither is "better" than the other. For versatility, the chromatic usually wins, but if you are playing a sui generis type of music - like Zydeco/Cajun or Trad Irish - a traditional Diatonic will give the best vocalize shout out for that specific music.

Any one is no harder to learn than another, but if you already play piano/keyboard a piano accordion would be an easier transition. If you run around harmonica, the diatonic accordion may make more sense.
