what would you recommend a fender bass guitar or a ibanez bass?

i dream im going to get a bass guitar and my friend the plays electric guitar told me that ibanez are better then fenders but my other fried that actually plays bass said that fender are one of the best bass guitars! im indeed confused and im not sure which to get so im going to get other peoples opinions!

I have a fender deluxe series jazz bass guitar and it wont play one's part when i plug it into the amp. i no the amp works because my other bass works wit it. i hope u can give me an answer.

Some bass guitars have batteries in them. Yours could have ran out of batteries.

If not, I proffer taking it to a guitar store like Sam Ash and asking them to see if they can find anything wrong with it.
