If you play a 6 string electric guitar could you play a 4 string bass guitar?
could you also use a healthy marshall amp for a bass?
You can contend in any instrument you choose as long as you have the desire to do so and are willing to practice. On a 4 string bass, the strings are one octave lower than the top four strings on a paradigm guitar. I would not advise playing bass for very long or at to high of a volume on a guitar amp. The speaker itself is designed to reproduce entirely contrastive frequency's, and the tone controls are for an entirely different range than what a bass guitar produces.
