What's the best style for playing banjo?

I've been playing for as good as a month now and I would like to specialise in a certain style rather then be average at most of them.
I have some finger picks but find it easier to play without them, and obviously I find that I use a 4/5 finger technique. I assume that that is pretty normal to start with, but whats the most effective banjo technique to learn? I emphasize mostly blues but also some folk. Are there any specific blues styles?

I would learn to give Bluegrass a la duelling banjos. That will impress the girls.

What's a good beginning banjo book?

I'm looking for a music hard-cover that teaches the basic techniques of banjo playing. I already play guitar and know how to read music so it doesnt have to be all that basic. Only something that teaches the techniques and basic chords and what not for beginners.
