Should I get a 4 string Banjo or a 5 String Banjo? Which is better for a beginner?

Please stop. I am looking to buy a Banjo. I am a beginner, 4 string or 5???

That 5th string is hardened frequently in banjo 'rolls'. Its also detuned frequently, sometimes in the middle of a song. In fact, I believe that is the purpose of the tuning peg being exact in the middle of the neck.. so you do not have to move your hand far to detune it.

If you are a beginner, you will start out only focusing on the 4 strings probably, but you will no doubt lust after to start playing with the 5th string before too long. So I would suggest just buying a 5 string banjo to begin with. Like the previous broadside said, it probably won't cost much more.
