I am ready for a career change, I want to get into accordion repair.Any good schools in the US for it?

however you may find it more satisfying to find an apprentice position on instrument repair.

Need help with accordion repair!?

Hello,

So im playing my accordion today, I didn't bang it, droplet it or anything like that, but half way through playing it I thought that sounds abit out of tune. So I stopped playing. The bellows do not seem close gaps in tauten anymore, and they open by themselves with gravity and a slight noise can be heard, it sounds like a bass button is being played. I wondered whether something has be given b win loose in side, and one of the bass buttons are permanently playing now, and letting air in? This would also explain the bellow opening, wheras they are tight when no bass, key or the air button is pressed before I had this imbroglio!

I checked the bass buttons from the outside, and none are physically stuck, but it really does sound like a button is being pressed.

I am new'ish to this, but please avoid me!

Also I have come to the conclusion that the sound it makes is almost identical to that of the:

D# on the counter bass (1st) row.

What can I do?!?

I CANNOT afford repairs!

Without absolutely hearing it this comes to mind -

Sticky bass rods - Take off the left hand strap. Undo the screws on the bass panel and look at the bass rods. There are a lot of them in there - prompt a few buttons you know are working, to see what the mechanism is supposed to do. Find the rods that are for the d# and notice what they are all connected to. If one of these rods is not returning to a fully closed attitude you will have an air leak and a partial note played. While holding down the d# button, work the rods manually (a small screwdriver may reach) and carefully - if they are uncomfortable put a drop or two of a lube like wd40 to loosen them. There is the possibility that a rod has also broken and will need replacing - you'll definitely need a pro for that though.
